  • Newly created strategic records management position
  • Full Time (35 hours per week) 2-year temporary opportunity
  • Office location Flexible across our NSW office locations
  • Salary relative to experience and commences from $173121 superannuation leave loading

Our Governance and Risk team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Manager Records and Information in this newly created position. You will lead the strategic direction and operational excellence of records and information management across the Department.

About the Role

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a long-term records management strategy that aligns with departmental priorities promotes compliance and supports digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure all records management practices meet NSW State Records requirements and relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks to support audit readiness and mitigate risk.
  • Design and oversee a robust digital records management approach leveraging EDRMS to enhance accessibility efficiency and information governance.
  • Lead the categorisation and classification of records to improve discoverability streamline retrieval and optimise lifecycle management.
  • Coach and mentor staff to build capability in records management systems procedures and compliance obligations.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders to identify evolving business needs and drive continuous improvement in records management services.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strategic and Analytical Capability: A forward-thinking mindset with the ability to analyse complex information environments and develop innovative long-term solutions for records and information management.
  • Knowledge of Records Legislation: Strong understanding of NSW State Records requirements and broader legislative frameworks governing records and information governance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with electronic document and records management systems (EDRMS) and a solid grasp of digital tools that support secure and efficient information handling.
  • Information Architecture Awareness: Familiarity with metadata standards classification schemes and taxonomy design to support effective information retrieval and lifecycle management.
  • Operational Oversight: Demonstrated ability to manage both digital and physical records environments including remote or regional locations with a focus on security accessibility and compliance.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams build capability and foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
  • Relationship Management: Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and influence outcomes in a complex organisational setting.
  • Change and Project Management: Experience driving change initiatives and managing projects that improve systems processes and service delivery in records and information management.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in records management change manage project management or equivalent relevant experience.
