Job Description

An established steel company is seeking an Import Procurement Specialist in Gauteng Johannesburg. The successful candidate will proactively manage the entire import process drive value through smart sourcing cost-saving initiatives and continuous supply chain optimization.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in end-to-end import procurement and logistics.
  • Strong background in international and local sourcing.
  • Knowledge of steel products (advantageous).
  • Proficient in MS Office and Excel; Microsoft D365 experience is beneficial.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Customs knowledge and tariff determination skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Source steel products locally and internationally securing competitive terms and quality.
  • Manage the full import process from supplier negotiation to delivery.
  • Ensure customs compliance and maintain accurate landed costings.
  • Conduct market research to identify new supply sources and product opportunities.
  • Negotiate with service providers to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
  • Monitor global market trends pricing and tariffs to adjust sourcing strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align procurement strategies with business needs.
