Description

Schedule: Part-Time position beginning September 2025 generally 3:30-4:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays with infrequent weekend duties

The Polytechnic Extended Program (PEP) provides a space where students practice the skills needed to be contributing members of our school community and the world. PEP serves this purpose by providing directed activities and unstructured time with trained and caring staff members. PEP operates daily after-school programs as well as occasional special event or full-day support.

A PEP teacher works alongside a dedicated and collaborative team to provide engaging and innovative after-school enrichment courses or programs for our students. One of the more robust offerings for Middle School students is the opportunity to participate and compete on our Robotics Team in the First Lego League (FLL) robotics competition. This annual competition offers students the opportunity to learn not only about robotics and programming but critical thinking and collaboration skills. The FLL curriculum and competition includes a robot game research project and core values assessment. First Lego Leagues Core Values are:

Responsibilities

  • Regularly develop prepare and implement high-quality robotics sessions
  • Mentor students through the FLL program
  • Be the primary contact for FLL
  • Arrange and schedule participation in at least two official FLL tournaments in the Fall
  • Arrange at least one intramural Poly tournament in the Spring
  • Actively engage students in positive activities
  • Build significant relationships with all constituents
  • Model kindness and empathy
  • Communicate information appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude
  • Follow directions and reason logically
  • Use a proactive approach when problem solving taking appropriate initiative
  • Engage robustly in fostering diversity equity and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
