Lead Grant Writer & Manager Full-time, salaried/exempt Location: Hybrid (Northfield, MN) or fully remote in MN Reports to: Executive Director Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 About Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) is a dynamic nonprofit organization based in Rice County, MN. About the Role We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, and mission-driven Lead Grant Writer & Manager to join our team. This person will play a key role in securing essential funding through compelling grant proposals, strong partnerships, and streamlined systems. The ideal candidate brings specific expertise in government grant writing and management, enjoys working across teams, and shares our commitment to improving outcomes for youth and families in Rice County. Responsibilities: * Grant Research and Identification for mission-aligned government and foundation opportunities * Achieve Government, Other Organization, and Foundation grant fundraising goals by creating inspiring, compelling, successful grant applications * Manage grant documentation and reporting requirements in Salesforce and other platforms * Create an annual grants application and tracking plan aligned with strategic priorities and impact areas in partnership with Executive and Senior Program Directors * Once greenlit, co-strategize funding pitch, create and manage timeline for information/data gathering, draft and help secure letters of support, co-design grant budget, facilitate work plan, finalize required forms, write compelling narrative, and submit complete proposal on time * Communicate regularly with the data team, Executive Director and Sr. Program Director * Collaboration: Coordinate proposals with leaders and grant writers from key partner organizations (e.g., public schools, other non-profit organizations) as needed * Ensure compliance with grant conditions, state and federal regulations, and foundation requirements * Supervise Grant Writer Required Qualities: * Proven success securing government and foundation grant funding * Experience crafting letters of intent, funding cases, and proposals, with aptitude for creating budgets and drafting compelling case statements/narratives * Prospect research and analysis * Project Management * Financial acumen in grant budget development and financial reporting * Ability to collaboratively develop proposals with a variety of partners * Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously * Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualities: * Strong familiarity with Rice County organizations and resources * Knowledge of Greater Minnesota funders * Knowledge in the fields of asset-based youth development, community innovation, and collective impact Benefits & Perks of Working at HCI -------------------------------------- At HCI, we believe that our employees are our most valuable asset—and we’re committed to supporting their well-being, growth, and impact.
