Job Description

REPORTS TO:Building Principal

POSITION PURPOSE: TheBuilding Based School Improvement Specialist will work under the direction of both thebuilding prinicpal. They will work closely withthe District School Improvement Specialists to ensure the School Improvement Plan(s) and Accountability Grantsare implemented to make growth in student achievement and provide an effective learning environment for staff students and parents. TheBuilding Based School Improvement Specialistwill provideinstructional supportto teachers and meet with building leadership as part of the team toimplement monitor and report on will also will also assist each schools leadership team in making decisions as it pertains to the improvement efforts outlined in both the SIP(s) andAccountability Grant(s).

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a certiied teacher with 3 years of successful teaching experience and an M.A. in Educational Leadership or working towards it. The cadidates should have building leadership experiences that can include but are not limited to experiences being on the Building Leadership Team and/or Department or Grade Level Lead.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: This position prefers: prior administrative experience and administrative certification.

PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.) Speaking hearing visual reading writing word processing mobility consistency of temperament ability to work with a variety of problems at the same time stamina for working long hours and in stress producing environments.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable of national and state curriculum and instructional initiatives;
  • Ability to consult coach and collaborate with stakeholders to improve outcomes;
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people to focus resources (both human andinstructional) toward the achievement of district expected results.
  • Knowledge of School Improvement Processes and Accreditation;
  • Knowledge and ability to plan and implement intervention to meet the needs of students in the areas of academic behavior ans social emotional;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Knowledge and commitment to effective decision-making and accountability for results;
  • Knowledgeable of KansaStar;
  • Knowledge of Kansas Assessment Program and data analysis;
  • Knowledge and implementation of Professional Learning Communities;
  • Innovative thinking and implementation of systems to improve chronic absenteeism;

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manifest a professional code of ethics and values.
  • Model the routine intentional and effective use of technology in daily work including communications organization and management tasks.
  • Develop and provide services and support as prescribed in the SIP(s) andAccountability Grants;
  • Assist and monitor schools After School Programs;
  • Keep the Principal and District Leadersinformed of progress;
  • Follow the districts policies and procedures related to confidentiality;
  • Responsible for self development and keeping up to date on current research trends best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10.5 months; Salary and work year to be determined by Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation ofteachers.
