We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer I to join our product development team in India. This is a hands-on technical leadership role that combines deep expertise in data engineering with strong software development skills. You will lead the design and implementation of data platforms APIs and pipelines that are scalable secure and aligned with modern software architecture principles.
You will work closely with engineering product and architecture teams to build systems that power our data-driven products. A strong understanding of software engineering fundamentalsincluding microservices design patterns and cloud-native architectureis essential.
Key Responsibilities
Architect design and build scalable data pipelines APIs and services that enable efficient data access and analytics across the platform.
Develop and maintain modular testable microservices to process transform and serve data at scale.
Apply software design patterns architecture best practices and clean code principles to ensure high reliability and maintainability.
Design data models schemas and storage solutions aligned with data lake and warehouse best practices.
Implement robust CI/CD pipelines enforce SDLC processes and ensure automated testing and code reviews.
Leverage AWS services such as Glue Athena Kinesis Firehose IoT Core and Lambda to build secure scalable data infrastructure.
Ensure observability through structured logging tracing and monitoring of pipelines and services.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers software engineers DevOps and data scientists.
Mentor and guide junior engineers in both data engineering and software craftsmanship.
Qualifications :
Technical Skills
69 years of experience in data engineering or backend software development including 12 years in a leadership or architectural role.
Proficiency in Python and Javascript.
Experience working with Snowflake Airbyte and Airflow.
Strong knowledge of software engineering practices including: Microservices architecture design patterns RESTful APIs and CI/CD Pipelines
Solid experience with SQL data modeling and managing large volumes of structured and semi-structured data.
Deep hands-on experience with AWS data services: Glue Athena Kinesis (Firehose) IoT Core S3 Lambda CloudWatch.
Experience with containerized applications using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and architectural problem-solving skills.
Ability to translate product requirements into scalable data solutions.
Excellent collaboration communication and mentoring capabilities.
Strong ownership mindset with a drive for clean architecture and maintainable code.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming data solutions.
Prior experience with DevOps practices GitOps and cloud-native deployment patterns.
Exposure to data security privacy frameworks and compliance (e.g. GDPR HIPAA).
Background in SaaS or cloud platform product development is a plus.
