As our company grows were seeking a dedicated Shop Mechanic to join our team and help maintain our fleet of equipment and vehicles at peak performance.
Job Summary:
The Shop Mechanic is responsible for the inspection maintenance and repair of company equipment and vehicles including heavy machinery trucks trailers and small engines. This role plays a critical part in supporting field operations by ensuring all equipment is safe reliable and ready for deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics troubleshooting and repairs on diesel and gas engines hydraulics electrical systems and related components.
- Conduct routine maintenance (e.g. oil changes filter replacements brake inspections) on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Remove and install semi-truck tires using manual equipment and proper safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate service records including maintenance logs and parts usage.
- Inspect and prepare equipment prior to job deployment.
- Assist in ordering and organizing parts and supplies.
- Work independently and prioritize repairs based on project urgency and equipment availability.
- Ensure the shop and yard are clean organized and safe.
- Adhere to company safety policies and OSHA standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic preferably with heavy equipment or diesel engines.
- Proficiency in mechanical hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid drivers license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various outdoor conditions.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
