The Network Technician provides technical and administrative support for Local Area Network (LAN) using Elmer Chocolates operating systems and a variety of application software; maintains adequate knowledge of existing hardware and software in use to maximize efficiency of the network and users utilization of them; and provides written documents which evaluate LAN information on periodic intervals.
Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities (with or without accommodations)
General:
- Lives and communicates Elmer Chocolate Values our guiding principles.
- Serve as a backup for other IT roles/duties in others absence.
- Completes additional tasks as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
Hardware/Software:
- Assist in imaging and setup of PCs and laptops and installation and maintenance of workstations laser & label printers time clocks WAPs - with multiple SSIDs VOIP Digital and analog phones and all related voice services and tasks cameras and NVR system access control system RFID & barcode handheld scanners.
- Install and maintain new software applications or hardware coordinating assistance from third parties when necessary.
- Completing assigned tasks and projects and having prompt response to support tickets.
- Assist in making data corrections throughout multiple systems.
Tracking Monitoring & Reporting:
- Add and maintain users on the network; assigning application access ensuring security and maintaining their configurations are within standards.
- Assist in Inventory of IT resources equipment and supplies as needed.
- Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
- Monitor and evaluate efficiency of software/hardware usage providing items to be covered in training of users making them more efficient.
- Monitor and report licenses on applications to ensure compliance on a monthly basis.
Ongoing Knowledge:
- Maintain an adequate level of knowledge of operating system and application software being used to provide high levels of support to users.
- Provide written document on an ongoing basis including but not limited to training/procedural knowledgebase articles network mapping and infrastructure.
Collaboration & Employee Service:
- Participate in Team meetings providing input and suggestions.
- Assist in providing computer/network support relating to software and hardware problems reported by users-often via IT support tickets.
- Utilize technology to provide staff with a fast accurate and secure method of gaining access to information so they can service the member in the fastest and most efficient manner possible.
Education and Work Experience:
- Associates degree in network and computer administration or related equivalent experience preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a client/server environment preferred.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must pass drug screen(s)
- Must pass background check(s)

- The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop bend kneel reach crouch crawl use force carry & push/pull.
- Ability to stand & walk continuously during periods of technical installation and/or repair.

- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as during equipment installation.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Regular and prompt attendance on site is required. May be required to work evenings/weekends/overtime.
This job operates mostly in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phone photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines. At times the employee is working in offices located in manufacturing areas.
Work Environment and Conditions:
Works primarily in professional office environment and at times works in a food manufacturing environment where the plant is in operations 1-2 shifts per day. Climate controlled environment. Some areas require PPE personal protective equipment. This facility processes peanuts.
