Job Purpose
To oversee and coordinate national varietal development programs in alignment with policy objectives. The role entails guiding research direction fostering collaboration contributing to policy implementation and ensuring continuous enhancement of seed standards and sector performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare national varietal development plans
- Coordinate national varietal development programs
- Advise R&D institutions to align with national goals
- Foster international and local collaboration in seed sector R&D
- Assist in formulation and implementation of the National Seed Policy
- Conduct periodic reviews of the seed sector
- Evaluate monitor and improve National Seed Standards
- Supervise the functioning of the Variety Evaluation Committee
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Authority
Requirements
- Qualification and Experience: PhD with 15 years of experience or a Masters degree with 18 years of experience from an HEC-recognized institution in Agriculture with specialization in one or more of the following: Plant Breeding & Genetics Seed Sciences and Technology Agriculture Policy or Agricultural Economics.
- Age Limit: Not more than 62 years on the date of applying
Period of Contract/Tenure: 3 years
