About your new role

Were looking for a creative and organised Health Education Content Officer to support the development of our health education programs. Youll report to the Service Design & Brand Experience Manager and work closely with our design and program teams to create engaging evidence-based resources that help Australians live healthier lives.

This role sits within our Design & Development Team and is ideal for someone who loves writing researching collaborating and coming up with fresh ideas to communicate health messages in a fun and accessible way without the jargon. Youll be part of a team that values analogies storytelling and practical tools to make complex health concepts easy to understand.

What youll be doing

  • Write engaging evidence-based content and health tips for Better Health Companys app to support users in making healthy lifestyle changes (food movement and mindfulness). This includes developing content for push notifications habit tracking features goal setting tools articles blogs and recipesall aligned with the in-app content strategy.
  • Help develop factsheets and other program materials making sure theyre clear practical and aligned with national health guidelines.
  • Liaise with external partners to support translation and cultural adaption projects to ensure resources are accessible for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  • Support the planning and facilitation of continuous improvement and feedback initiatives for health education resources including user testing sessions feedback surveys cross-departmental input and evaluation outcomes.
  • Stay up to date with Australian health guidelines including the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the 24-Hour Movement Guidelines and apply this knowledge to content creation.
  • Bring fresh ideas to the table for new program features content formats and messaging strategies.
  • Communicate health messages in a fun relatable way that resonates with different audiences avoiding jargon and using analogies to make complex concepts easy to understand.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments (including marketing and sales) to ensure messaging aligns with our approach to health and support them in delivering consistent health-informed communications.

What makes you a great fit

  • You have a tertiary qualification in a health-related field such as nutrition dietetics exercise physiology psychology or health promotion.
  • You bring 12 years of experience in a similar role ideally within a health promotion organisation or you have strong transferable skills and a passion for making health accessible.
  • Youre a strong writer who can turn complex health information into engaging easy-to-understand content.
  • Youre familiar with national health guidelines like the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the 24-Hour Movement Guidelines and know how to apply them in practical relatable ways.
  • Youre creative and love coming up with new ideas to help people live healthier lives.
  • Youre confident working with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Youre organised proactive and able to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Youre autonomous a go-getter with small business hustle whos willing to learn on the go and get things done.
  • You get excited about making things look great. You dont need to be a graphic designer but you have a strong visual eye and love thinking about how to present complex information in a simple beautiful way.
  • Youre tech-savvy quick to pick up new systems and love learning by giving things a go.
  • Youre a team player whos happy to collaborate and contribute wherever needed.
  • And most importantly youre passionate about making health accessible inclusive and fun (especially when it means using analogies and storytelling to explain tricky concepts).
