Job Description

Director Compliance Operations

A mid-sized global pharmaceutical organization is seeking a Director of Compliance Operations to lead core functions within its corporate compliance program. This is a highly visible and collaborative leadership role responsible for managing policy governance third-party due diligence and global compliance training. The successful candidate will partner across legal compliance finance HR and other business functions to drive adherence to regulatory expectations and internal policies.


Key Responsibilities

1. Policy Governance

  • Develop maintain and update global compliance policies and SOPs.
  • Act as a primary advisor to internal stakeholders on policy interpretation and applicability.
  • Lead the annual review and refresh process for policies identifying gaps and proposing new documents as needed.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications to draft and disseminate policy-related communications.
  • Coordinate with other control functions (e.g. HR Finance IT) to ensure harmonization of compliance policies across departments.

2. Compliance Training

  • Manage the organization s global compliance training program across multiple delivery formats.
  • Design and launch training initiatives to reinforce policy awareness and compliance culture.
  • Provide direct training to cross-functional teams and enable other departments to deliver compliance training.
  • Explore cost-effective methods to enhance training delivery and engagement.
  • Maintain centralized training records and ensure availability for audit or internal review.

3. Third-Party Due Diligence (TPDD)

  • Serve as the global point of contact for all TPDD processes.
  • Run preliminary screening reports and assess third-party risks.
  • Advise internal teams on mitigation strategies and next steps.
  • Facilitate distribution and tracking of external due diligence questionnaires.
  • Train employees on due diligence SOPs and the due diligence platform.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors degree required (BA/BS)
  • Advanced degrees preferred (MBA JD or PhD)

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in compliance legal or audit within the pharmaceutical industry.


Skills & Competencies

  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.
  • Proven leadership with a hands-on proactive and strategic mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of working across departments and influencing at all levels.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills including public speaking and presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.


Specialized Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting pharmaceutical compliance programs including:
    • OIG Compliance Program Guidance
    • PhRMA Code of Conduct
    • Anti-Kickback Statute & False Claims Act
    • Open Payments (Sunshine Act)
    • Industry trends in Corporate Integrity Agreements (CIAs)
    • U.S. DOJ Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs
  • Experience developing policies and governance structures aligned with U.S. and international regulatory expectations.
