Overview

Childrens Mercy Kansas City is launching new programs to treat youth with medical/psychiatric or complex neurobehavioral treatment needs including a partial hospitalization program and a medical/surgical inpatient unit. The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health is recruiting a clinical psychologist to provide clinical services and supervision of behavior analysts in these interdisciplinary programs that include clinical psychologists psychiatrists BCBAs pediatricians licensed clinical social workers nurses dieticians child life specialists and teachers as well as support staff including a care coordinator/discharge planner.

We are recruiting a psychologist who has training and/or experience with youth who have both medical and psychiatric presenting concerns and/or neurodevelopmental/genetic disorders. Experience conducting diagnostic assessments functional behavior assessments and implementing behavior plans is desired. Experience supervising BCBAs and direct-care staff (e.g. behavioral health techs) and providing training for caregivers is preferred.

This position will include teaching in the hospitals pediatric medical and psychology training programs. It will also include protected academic time for service research and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring is available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g. program evaluation quality improvement initiatives). This position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology pediatric psychology clinical child psychology or related field
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship with clinical child and adolescent psychology as a major area of study
  • BCBA Certification or relevant experience
  • Eligibility for clinical psychology licensure in Missouri and Kansas

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Childrens Mercy is growing and expanding programs as part of the institutions Mental and Behavioral Health Strategic Plan Illuminate: Lighting the Path Forward for Mental Health Childrens Mercy. We offer a dynamic and collegial work environment that includes 60 psychologists 6 developmental pediatricians 10 child and adolescent psychiatrists masters and doctoral level board certified behavior analysts other research and pediatrics faculty and allied health professionals who work together to provide outstanding mental and behavioral health care to youth in our region and beyond.
