Job Description

Your mission
We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative Director Medicinal Chemistry to join our drug discovery team at Proteros Biostructures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in organic chemistry drug design and molecular modeling with a track record and passion for discovering and optimizing new therapeutic compounds. The Director Medicinal Chemistry will play a critical role in the early stages of drug discovery working closely with biologists enabling technology experts and other chemists to design molecules that have the potential to become safe and effective medications. Primary responsibilities will include designing and planning of synthesis of novel chemical entities analyzing structure-activity relationships (SAR) and optimizing lead compounds for potency selectivity and pharmacokinetic properties. Close collaboration with customers and internal Proteros teams and excellent communication are key for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Design and synthesize novel small molecules for drug discovery
  • Analyze structure-activity relationships (SAR) to optimize hit and lead compounds
  • Guide tailored screening library design for small molecule hit generation campaigns
  • Develop and improve synthetic routes for target molecules through external partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Proteros teams and its customers
  • Leading project planning and decision-making processes
  • Present research findings to internal teams and external customers
  • Stay current with scientific literature and emerging technologies
Your profile
  • Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry Organic Chemistry or related field
  • 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • Drug Discovery project leadership experience with a track record for delivery of drug candidates
  • Strong knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry
  • Familiarity with molecular modeling and cheminformatics tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
