The Town of Brookline is seeking a part-time Energy Advocate to support local outreach for energy efficiency and climate action programs including Mass Save and other home electrification initiatives. This position plays a key role in engaging residents and small businessesparticularly those in underrepresented communitiesto increase participation in programs that reduce emissions and energy costs.
This is a grant-funded part-time position scheduled for 18.5 hours weekly through March 2028.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement outreach strategies targeting priority groups such as renters landlords moderate-income households non-English speaking residents and small businesses.
- Promote Mass Save and related programs by organizing events delivering presentations and using social media and communications tools.
- Represent the Town in the Statewide Mass Save Community First Partnership (CFP) cohort and tailor outreach to the local community with a focus on engaging majority-minority populations.
- Collaborate with the Zero Emissions Advisory Board and other partners to coordinate outreach programs and analyze participation data.
- Work with program vendors to address residents and small business owners needs and assist with resolving issues or connecting them to appropriate resources.
- Maintain accurate outreach and participation records using Salesforce and ensure compliance with Mass Save data privacy requirements.
- Attend and support indoor and outdoor community events including occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Participate in training and peer learning as a member of the statewide CFP Energy Advocate cohort.
- May provide guidance to interns volunteers or community ambassadors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Sciences Environmental Studies Energy Environmental Policy Public Policy or a related field; and at least three (3) years of experience in sustainability energy outreach or community engagement programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with diverse communities and in public-facing roles is preferred.
- Multilingual abilities (Mandarin Cantonese Spanish Russian or Korean) are highly desirable.
- Must have Proficiency with Salesforce or other CRM tools social media and online design platforms.
- Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class D drivers license.
