Job Description

Introduction

This opportunity is with Miramar Underwriting Agency a general insurance underwriting agency that provides business insurance solutions tailored to the client needs of general insurance brokers. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Steadfast Group Pty Ltd we act on behalf of a number of insurance companies in Australia and internationally. About the Opportunity

The Digital Team Leader for the Liability Team is responsible for leading and coordinating digital initiatives that enhance underwriting efficiency broker engagement and service delivery across liability insurance products. This role involves managing digital workflows supporting underwriters with technology-driven solutions and ensuring seamless integration with platforms like the Steadfast Client Trading Platform. The Team Leader fosters collaboration within the liability team drives innovation in underwriting practices and champions Miramars commitment to tailored responsive insurance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the digital product vision and roadmap for underwriting platforms and tools.
  • Collaborate with operations technology data teams to deliver scalable and compliant solutions.
  • Provide portfolio steering across the portfolio with a focus on industry segment and rate elasticity.
  • Ensure underwriting practices are consistent compliant and aligned with company policies.
  • Lead coach and support a team of underwriters and analysts to achieve performance and service excellence.
  • Foster a collaborative inclusive and high-trust team culture.
  • Track team performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) and turnaround times are consistently met.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years relevant product specific experience. Relevant insurance qualifications through a fellowship/associateship or equivalent. Previous management experience (ideally).
  • In depth knowledge of underwriting process risk assessment and digital transformation.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio steering within a digital workflow.
  • Ability to provide professional level of service to intermediaries and to ensure the team provides quality service to relevant client groups.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing a high-performance culture.
