About this Job

TO ACTIVELY CREATE FACILITATE AND ENHANCE BENEFITS FROM MARITIME TRANSPORTATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR THE BENEFIT OF ITS CUSTOMERS STAKEHOLDERS AND THE CITIZENS OF SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA

The Port of Lake Charles is seeking candidates for the position of Port Facility Maintenance Specialist 1 2 or 3. This is a full-time state Civil Service position that includes excellent benefits. Entry-level salary is $17.18 per hour; however this is a training series (career progression group) with an opportunity for advancement over time. Also previous experience will be taken into consideration when determining hiring level and salary. The selected candidates will perform basic to advanced level duties in the repair and maintenance of the railroad heavy mobile equipment cranes vehicles electrical systems mechanical maintenance and facilities & grounds.

About this position:
Selected candidates duties include repair and maintenance of electrical systems heavy mobile equipment vehicles and machinery. railroad systems electrical systems buildings etc. Will also be required to operate equipment. Performance of these duties requires the ability to safely stand climb bend stoop walk push pull and lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds and work outdoors and around the waterfront.

Minimum Qualifications

No experience or training is required.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

A valid drivers license good driving record valid TWIC or ability to obtain TWIC are required. Other preferred qualifications include the possession of ASE Certification CDL and experience with diesel engine equipment.

Performance of duties for this position requires manual physical labor such as standing stooping bending walking pushing pulling climbing and lifting 30 pounds or more working outdoors in all types of weather and working around the waterfront.
