Job Description:
Reviews and files paper and electronic pleadings from Courts Agencies Attorneys and Self-Represented Litigants in accordance with state statutes and court rules; notifies the Court staff attorneys and administrative assistants of any actions required; and provides recommendation based on previous filing.
Manages caseload which includes: docketing new cases; determining which court the appeal should be docketed and sufficiency of pleadings to docket; assigning case numbers; computing brief day; entering data on computer; and supervises the sending of notifications to clerks of trial courts and attorneys.
Maintains files on bar admissions suspensions disbarments and senior certified letters; sends notice to applicants of success or failure after examination and notices of suspensions and reinstatements; and prepares agenda list of applicants and chair labels for swearing in ceremonies.
Assists the Clerk in preparing appeals calls which includes: assigning and keeping track of cases for oral argument; sending notices to involved parties; and providing clerical and technical support to hearings.
Receives reconciles and complies financial documents for accuracy and completeness.
Maintains journal entries from consultation minutes and professional corporation files or certificate of authors in database; journalize miscellaneous actions of the Court; and conducts research on journal entries as requested from justices staff attorneys court administrator and the public.
Provides routine clerical support which includes: answering non-legal questions about cases via phone or in-person; directing inquires to appropriate departments; maintaining and updating case databases; and preparing and sending notices to the trial courts for unpaid fees.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma; 3 years of related experience with the procedures polices law and operation of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Knowledge:
Knowledge or written and verbal English;
Applicable Federal State and local laws and regulations;
Courtroom practices and procedures;
Knowledge of Justice System;
Legal document preparation techniques;
Applicable practices and regulations for legal proceedings;
Computers and applicable software applications.
Skills:
Writing and communicating in English;
Conducting legal research;
Legal reasoning for analyzing appraising and organizing facts;
Maintaining records and files;
Preparing legal documents;
Operating computers and applicable software applications;
Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisors the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for Light Work.
