Description

We are searching for a Technical Coordinator Immunology lab that requires organizational skills attention to detail computer experience critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision upon completion of training. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. CIL lab is an independent small clinical laboratory and needs someone who works well in a fast-paced setting.

Our diagnostic clinical Immunology laboratory is CAP-accredited and CLIA certified with expertise in inborn errors of immunity and it exclusively offers laboratory-developed high complexity tests for immune deficiencies immune depletion or repletion monitoring and evaluation of bone marrow transplant engraftment in the Allergy Immunology and Retrovirology section. This lab specializes in utilizing a variety of techniques including flow cytometry for phenotyping and neutrophil function cellular analyses radioactive assays for lymphocyte proliferation and NK cell cytotoxicity assays.

Proficiency in flow cytometry is mandatory. Proficiency in aseptic technique pipetting small volumes handling blood samples and microtiter plates cellular processing PBMC isolation and counting (microscopy) and cell culturing is highly preferred.

Knowledge of diagnostic immunology assays working knowledge of Epic Beaker Laboratory Information System (LIS) for test management and operational workflows collaborative expertise and good people skills are highly preferred.

Light lifting may be required. Experience with handling hazardous chemicals biohazards radioactive materials etc. is useful. However on-the-job training will be provided to all new staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes daily lab workflow according to staff schedule and lab staffing situation; facilitates maintenance of records for equipment radioactive safety annual inspections reagent logs assay packets and staff training records; maintains and update laboratory chemical inventory in compliance with institutional and safety regulations; creates requisitions for supplies reagents blanket and standing orders; monitors supply and usage of consumables to stay within budget; ensures the lab receives annual safety inspections documents results and implements corrective actions as needed in collaboration with Quality Assurance Coordinator Manager and Director LIS related operation in collaboration with Quality Assurance Coordinator Manager and Director.
  • Collaborates on the performance of routine and complex procedures. Recognizes and solves administrative/operational conjunction with the Research Technologist Quality Assurance Coordinator Manager and Medical Director helps with transferring new methodologies and procedures from R&D to production.
  • Contributes to the quality labs control/quality assurance programs. Works with the Quality Assurance Coordinator Manager and Medical Director to maintain the lab quality program review quality assurance data resolve issues identified helps with corrective actions and ensures regulatory compliance (CAP CLIA OSHA and HIPAA) is maintained and the lab is ready for inspection.
  • Ensures that laboratory equipment receives performance maintenance services; monitors temperature logs; calibrates and maintains the laboratory equipment; resolves technical problems (not a specific directors responsibility); ensures remedial action is taken to resolve technical problems in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Coordinator Research Technologist Manager and Director.
  • Trains mentors and evaluates technical staff and supports the onboarding of new hires; coordinates and supports continuing education programs; maintains personal expertise level in area(s) of responsibility; coordinates and facilitates continuing education events for the staff.
  • Assist with Medical Director and the Manager with financial operations. Maintains supply inventory. Monitors supply expenses and usage of consumables to stay within budget.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • BB-ASCP C-ASCP CG-ASCP CLSP-NCA H-ASCP HLT M-ASCP MB-ASCP MLS-ASCP MP-ASCP MT-AMT MT-ASCP MT-STATE SBB-ASCP or SC-ASCP certification required
  • 4 years of experience in a laboratory setting one 1) of which is in the area of specialization.
