Job Description

The Silver Lake Regional School District is seeking a Principal for the Integrated Preschool Program located at Kingston Elementary School.

Qualifications:

  1. DESE Licensure as Principal/Assistant Principal Special Education Administrator or Supervisor/Director (of Pupil Personnel Services Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities or Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities)
  2. Masters degree or advanced graduate study in a discipline related to those licenses
  3. At least 5 years of experience in a school environment working with preschool aged children

Report To: Director of Student Services

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and evaluate all personnel within the Integrated Preschool Program
  2. Establish and maintain an effective learning climate within the Integrated Preschool
  3. Assist with the preparation and management of the preschool budget including the establishment of tuition rates
  4. Coordinate the intake eligibility determination and class placement for all students. Maintain records of all referrals.
  5. Conduct home and/or school observations as needed
  6. Consult with liaisons parents/guardians and outside agencies regarding special education services and programming
  7. Coordinate peer partner open houses peer applications and child find notifications
  8. Monitor and facilitate the provision of a Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment for identified students
  9. Serve as Special Education Team Chairperson for all initial and 3-year re-evaluation meetings
  10. Assure that all special education paperwork for initial annual and 3-year evaluations are completed within the required DESE timelines. Determine the appropriate assessments for all referrals and meetings.
  11. Review and sign all IEPs and maintain compliance with DESE
  12. Attend Early Childhood Advisory Council meetings and update staff of any changes in regulations trends and best practices
  13. Coordinate programming and staffing of Extended School Year programs
  14. Design and facilitate family engagement opportunities such as SEPAC classroom volunteers parent training etc.
  15. Maintain knowledge of state and federal laws and adhere to LEA procedures process and policies
  16. Supervise the maintenance of all required building records and reports
  17. Assume responsibility for the implementation of all School Committee policies and regulations
  18. Act as a Mandated Reporter (Chapter 119 Section 51A)
  19. Comply with SafetyCare practices
  20. Attend any administrative meeting convened by the Director of Student Services
  21. Execute any other tasks assigned by the Director of Student Services

Salary is commensurate with experience and education. This is a full time full year with benefits through Silver Lake.
