Job Description

Were looking for an experienced hands-on Controller to join our team. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing day-to-day finance operations payroll compliance and reporting while also helping shape financial strategy through insights and recommendations. The ideal candidate brings professionalism integrity and a team-first mindset and thrives in a fast-paced construction-driven environment. As you know payroll is a complex role that requires someone confident in managing it.

This is a full-time exempt role based onsite in Escondido Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with additional hours as needed.


Candidate must reside in North County San Diego or be able to commute daily to Escondido.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly financial reporting reconciliation and compliance processes
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Support annual budgeting forecasting and financial planning
  • Oversee weekly payroll including prevailing wage requirements deductions and benefits reporting
  • Manage labor compliance for prevailing wage subcontractors
  • Monitor insurance fringe and benefits reporting; investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Handle tax filings audits and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Manage month-end close and year-end financial activities
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations on labor planning reporting and workforce compliance
  • Support accurate job-cost tracking and adjustments
  • Oversee asset management and annual reporting tasks
  • Supervise payroll/accounting team members and support their development
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the business


What Were Looking For

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
  • 5 years of experience in a construction environment with a strong background in payroll prevailing wage and WIP reporting
  • Proficient in reconciliation job costing payroll AR/AP asset management and financial reporting
  • Experience supervising accounting/payroll team members
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential data with care
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Able to work collaboratively across multiple departments
  • Must be based in North County San Diego or able to commute to Escondido daily
  • Schedule: Full-time on-site Monday-Friday 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (additional hours as needed)
  • Drug screen and background check required
  • Working references must be provided
