Platform Services and Support Manager

AQA needs someone who can do more than just manage platforms. Were looking for someone who can lead a team through complexity without losing sight of the bigger picture or the technical detail.

This is a senior role in our Assessment Technology group the people behind the platforms that deliver GCSE and A-level results to millions of students every year.

Youll be leading a team (and sometimes third-party suppliers) responsible for running supporting and improving our platforms and infrastructure. That means balancing day-to-day stability with long-term improvement. Youll need to set a clear direction and get people aligned behind it then make sure things get done.

Youll work closely with Architecture and Software teams and play a key role in delivering change across systems that are central to AQAs purpose.

What youll need to bring:

  • Strong experience managing Azure platforms in complex environments where uptime matters.

  • A working knowledge of ITIL (and preferably more than just the Foundation certificate).

  • Enough technical depth to lead credible conversations about platforms and infrastructure and to challenge where needed.

  • A structured approach to solving problems

  • A continuous improvement mindset youll be someone whos always looking for ways to make things better.

Summary

This role is accountable for leading platform services and support team members (and 3rd party resources where required) to deploy monitor manage and support the infrastructure & products within the AQA Assessment Technology portfolio.
Turning vision and priorities from senior management into achievable departmental goals this role is responsible for providing clear direction to inspire and motivate team members and other colleagues towards meeting objectives.
Inspiring a culture of trust learning innovation continuous improvement collective ownership and technical excellence.
This role reports to the Head of Software Delivery (HoSD).
