Credentialing Specialist

More about our team

Our Medical Staff Services team works closely with providers physician relations and hospital leadership to ensure seamless credentialing medical staff compliance and meeting management. We pride ourselves on attention to detail regulatory compliance and fostering a collaborative work environment.

How youll contribute

A Credentialing Specialist who excels in this role:

  • Performs provider credentialing in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws for initial appointment and reappointment (physicians nurse practitioners physician assistants CRNAs etc.).
  • Maintains credentialing databases and paper files ensuring records are current and compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Tracks and notifies providers of expiring state licenses liability insurance board certifications and other credentials.
  • Manages Credentials Committee and Medical Staff Department meetings including agendas minutes materials distribution and document flow to committees/Board for approval.
  • Maintains updated Medical Staff membership lists contact information and call schedules.
  • Assists in preparation for The Joint Commission and HSC Survey Readiness Assessments.
  • Coordinates hospital orientation for new providers with key departments.
  • Acts as a resource for Medical Staff leaders and collaborates with Physician Relations Recruitment Quality/Patient Safety and Risk Management.

What were looking for

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent (required) and a bachelors degree (preferred). Additional requirements include:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of credentialing or equivalent work experience (required).
  • Experience in a Medical Staff Office or credentialing providers (preferred).
  • Certification in Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) (preferred).
  • Strong critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
