The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking applicants for the Director of Business for the Governor Morehead School for the Blind (GMS). GMS is a residential school responsible for providing educational instruction to visually impaired students in grades K-12 from across North Carolina. The primary purpose of this position is to provide a comprehensive student life program to students ages 5-22 who are blind or visually impaired.

This position is responsible for administering and managing the business and financial affairs of the school. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to: Supervision of the following Departments: Housekeeping Services Food Services Information Technology Services Campus Security and the Business Office. The position directly supervises 5 permanent positions. (Assistant Business Manager Procurement Technician Director of Information Technology Food Service Director and Administrative Specialist I). Responsible for contract management analysis and forecasting to project for biennium and annual budgetary closeout of fiscal year end and serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of state and business administration. Thorough knowledge of modern office procedures practices and equipment. Considerable knowledge of personnel purchasing and accounting practices and procedures. Candidates should possess the ability to plan and direct fiscal and business services to select train and supervise employees engaged in business operations and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates other state officials and the general public.

Bachelors degree in accounting business finance or other discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive related experience two years of which should be in a supervisory role
or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
