Position: Database Administrator Specialist
Location: Onsite McLean VA (Client prefers candidates within the DC/MD/VA area - within a 40 mi radius)
Client: Apex/Freddie Mac
Assignment Type: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire (CTH)
Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship; W2 only. No C2C
Interview Format:
- Round 1: MS Teams (Video Mandatory)
- Round 2: Onsite
Role Overview:
Freddie Mac is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator Specialist with deep expertise in cloud database architecture automation and AWS technologies.
This role requires hands-on experience with Aurora PostgreSQL CloudFormation Templates (CFT) Lambda and Terraform along with a strong understanding of VPCs and cloud automation development.
Candidates must be technically sound and able to speak confidently about all aspects of their resume. The hiring team will only train up to 25% of candidates who must be at least 75% proficient in the required skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop implement and maintain cloud-based database systems
- Lead database creation testing backup/restore and security configuration
- Architect and automate database provisioning using AWS tools (CFT Lambda Terraform)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business needs and integration activities
- Monitor and resolve database issues ensuring optimal performance and reliability
- Maintain compliance with security and regulatory standards
- Provide technical leadership in cloud automation and database architecture
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years of hands-on database experience
- 7 years with Aurora PostgreSQL
- 3 years of automation development experience in AWS (CFT Lambda Terraform)
- AWS Certification required
- Experience with DMS tools and cloud migration
- Strong understanding of VPC cloud architecture and automation
- Experience with additional RDBMS platforms (Mongo Atlas DocumentDB DynamoDB DSQL) is a plus
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
