This Position reports to:
R&D Manager Instrumentation ProductsIn this role you will contribute significantly to technology and product development projects by identifying and implementing innovative solutions. You will under limited direction per-form a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of a specific engineering discipline plus an understanding of related disciplines to cost effectively achieve objectives. Assignments typically require the use of advanced and innovative techniques. Proactively seek and implement initiatives to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction.

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics division.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Act as principal investigator or lead a group of engineers investigating problems developing solutions and preparing related recommendations and re-ports as it relates to real-time embedded systems and cloud computing for the oil and gas market.
Work with Product Management and customers to understand their needs and functionality early in the conceptual phase and develop requirements.
Present and make a case for recommended systems and architectures to peers product managers developers and key stakeholders
Make use of diagrams to show such things as: Functional blocks Data flow Use Case Sequence Block Diagram Signal Flow Small to Enterprise Architectural frameworks Model-based Systems Engineering

Qualifications:
Required Skills
Bachelors degree preferred in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences or Mechanical Engineering or related field
Minimum 10 years of experience; alternatively a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Critical Thinking and Time Management
Basic expertise in electrical mechanical and firmware.
Capable of generating and managing Technical Requirement Specifications
Understand modeling and simulation and their advantages and disadvantages and utilize these techniques and others for design and proof of concept prototyping
Enable software development and deployment using virtual environments and deploying on any host platform running virtualization.
Preferred Skills
Product Development & Lifecycle Management (management of requirements system architecture design implementation verification integration & validation tests defects & technical risks)
UML Modeling using Sparx EA or similar tools
Functional Safety Certification
Hazardous Locations Certifications
Basic knowledge of scripting languages
Familiarity with Guided wave radar and laser level products a plus
Experience working closely with multi-functional team (production production test customer support supply chain)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to pro-duce clear and concise technical documentation
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
