Job Description

The Assistant Director for Student Success plays a vital role in fostering academic achievement student engagement and retention. This position oversees a range of academic support services including tutoring workshops and targeted student success addition to managing students on academic probation the Assistant Director will assist the Director of

Student Success with coordinating the universitys Trailblazer Program a first-year initiative focused on building community academic confidence and student success among first- generation college students.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Support Coordination

  • Recruithiretrainandschedulepeertutorsandgraduateassistants.
  • CollaboratewithAccessibilityServicestoensureinclusiveacademicsupport.
  • Designandfacilitateacademicskillsworkshopsforgeneral andprobationarystudents.
  • SupporttimelycontinuingregistrationeffortsincollaborationwithAcademicAffairs.

Trailblazer Program Leadership

  • Work with the Director of Student Success to coordinate all aspects of the Trailblazer Programincludingstudentengagementactivitiesmentorshipandco-curricularlearning experiences.
  • ServeastheprimarycontactandadvisorforTrailblazerstudentshelpingthemnavigate campus life and resources.
  • Developprogrammingthatsupportsthetransitionretentionandacademicsuccessof first year and underrepresented student populations.
  • Trackprogramparticipationandassessprogramoutcomestoguidecontinuous improvement.

Student Success Interventions

  • Provideindividualandgroupsupporttostudentsonacademicprobationincluding academic coaching and referrals.
  • CollaboratewiththeDirectortoidentifyat-riskstudentsandimplementretention strategies.
  • Lead workshops on time management study strategies and academic goal setting.

Data Management & Reporting

  • MaintainaccuratedataontutoringacademicsupportandTrailblazerprogramming.
  • Produceend-of-semesterreportshighlightingstudentengagementoutcomesand recommendations.
  • Assistindatacollectionrelatedtounregisteredstudentsfortargetedoutreach.

Promotion & Outreach

  • Promoteacademicsupportservicesthroughcampus-widemarketingcampaigns.
  • Participateinprospectivestudenteventsandnewstudentorientationasneeded.

Administrative & Student Services

  • Respondtostudentinquiriesinatimelyandsupportivemanner.
  • Supportspecial eventsand initiativesalignedwithstudentsuccessgoals.

Qualifications:

  • Required:Bachelorsdegreeineducationpsychologycommunicationorarelated field.
  • Preferred:Mastersdegreeand23yearsofexperienceinhighereducationstudent support or related services. Knowledge of EAB-Navigate.
  • Provenabilitytomanagestudentprogramsandcoordinateevents.
  • Strongorganizationalcommunicationand interpersonalskills.
  • Experiencewithacademicinterventionstrategiesstudentinformationsystemsand Microsoft Office tools.

Work Conditions:

  • Standard office setting with occasional evening or weekend hours required for events and student outreach.
