Job Description

THE ROLE: Strategic Event Programming Manager

American Student Assistance (ASA) is national nonprofit that is changing the way kids learn about careers and prepare for their futures through access to career-readiness information and experiences.

ASA fulfills its mission through free digital-first direct experiences philanthropy advocacy thought leadership groundbreaking research and impact investing. We believe that exploring career possibilities as early as middle school and providing access to education-to-career pathways aligned with ones passions and goals will result in greater confidence and long-term success for all students.

We are looking for a Strategic Event Programming Manager. In this position youll work with the Marketing & Communications department and provide support cross-functionally to ideate plan and execute and evaluate programming for sponsored events call for proposals and webinars. Programming will increase visibility of ASA thought leaders education employment and policy experts learners and young career professionals from across the K12 education postsecondary education workforce learning and training continuum. This will include planning and organizing diverse highly engaging presentation formats including panel presentations workshops podcast-style sessions and fireside chats that elevate career readiness on the national stage.

What Youll Do:

  • Ideate and develop programming based on conference type and target audiences secure colleagues and stakeholders feedback edit and fine-tune and finalize programming
  • Brainstorm--in collaboration with Marketing & Communications colleagues--new and existing speakers based on ASAs network of curated speakers relevant K12 career education (including middle school career exploration high school work-based learning such as internships and apprenticeships postsecondary education and career navigation
  • Lead the development of run-of-show for prep calls with speakers to ensure the delivery of highly engaging and successful presentations
  • Edit run-of-show document based on feedback from Marketing & Communications colleagues
  • Conduct prep calls with ASA speakers and panelists and edit and fine-tune document based on feedback from all speakers
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications colleagues on integrated communications campaign before during and after major events
  • Develop promotional content including emails landing pages and thank you messages for national conferences partners events ASA webinars and ASAs participation in partner webinars
  • Research call for proposals (CFP) for event speaking opportunities for ASA thought leaders as well as venues where ASA can submit proposals to host events
  • Assist in identifying and curating third party speakers for conferences and webinars
  • Identify opportunities to put ASA speakers forward and work to promote ASA speakers and raise profile of speakers featured on ASAs Speakers Bureau page (on )
  • Assist with development of related evergreen content in the form of recap articles that extend the life of ASAs thought leadership events
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications colleagues to evaluate events including attendance and engagement through post-event surveys and anecdotal feedback seek feedback from internal customers and work to optimize programming for better outcomes

About You:

  • 5-7 years of experience developing content strategy for thought leadership programming ideally in the K-12 education marketing communications or related field
  • Demonstrate strong writing and editing skills in nonprofit communications
  • Possess a collaborative spirit with a desire to learn from others and contribute to a fast-paced mission-driven team
  • Demonstrate understanding of or show enthusiasm for/interest in workforce development K-12 education policy or nonprofit communications
  • Be comfortable interacting with senior executives and navigating feedback loops with care and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
