Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Manager Sleep Disorder Centre this individual will take directions from a Respiratory Therapist and/or Polysomnography Coordinator. Responsibilities include cleaning of equipment required for sleep testing and overnight oximetry. Prepares special monitoring devices such as home study recorders and pulse oximeters for setup by a Respiratory Therapist and maintains tracking sheets for equipment as to when they are sent out and returned.

Experience

  • Previous experience in cleaning organizing and equipment inventory would be an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education Manitoba standards required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide Program required.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
  • On-the-job training includes: An understanding and application of safety principles to self staff and patients; a general understanding of cleaning techniques as they apply to the various equipment both monitoring and accessories used in the Sleep Disorder Centre; knowledge of how to generate reports and input data into testing units; and how to track units being sent and returned from patients in the community.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Computer knowledge required.
  • Must be fluent in written and verbal English and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Works within the Centres core values philosophy vision C.Q.I. goals policies and procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.

Physical Requirements

  • Work involves exposure to WHMIS products.
  • Position involves meticulous attention to detail maintaining a clean orderly and organized work environment and accuracy of patient records.
  • Individual must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be in physical health without limitations affecting standing walking or lifting.
  • Position involves some lifting of heavy equipment and supplies.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
