Range Explanation:
Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills qualifications experience education licenses training and internal equity.
Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.
The Recreation Aide position is an intermittent/part-time opportunity to work for Pima County Parks & Recreation in Ajo AZ. This position will work with youth teens adults and seniors in the community enriching lives through recreation programs events and services. The Recreation Aide assists in the daily operation of recreational activities including sports crafts and games; maintains facility cleanliness and order; provides information to the public about programs; handles cash transactions and prepares reports; and supports various recreational events and activities.
This position is located in the town of Ajo AZ approximately 2.5 hours west of Tucson.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act this classification may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. Assists in overseeing any one of several recreation activities such as sports dance twirling crafts and table games;
Assists in operation of leagues tournaments meets and the daily programmed activities;
Interprets and explains game rules and referees and umpires ball games;
Keeps recreation facility in a clean and orderly condition;
Issues receipts;
Prepares cash reports;
Gives information to the public regarding recreation facilities and programs;
Shows movies;
Maintains projection equipment;
Tells or reads stories to children;
Maintains attendance and other records and prepares reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates the minimum knowledge and skills.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
Experience working with children youth teens and/or adults in a recreational social services or educational setting.
Experience with/knowledge of playing coaching and/or refereeing team sports outside and group games.
Experience with/knowledge of arts and crafts.
Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidates from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver license is at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record.
