Credit Risk Management - Valuation Reviewer Commercial Real Estate - EMEA Vice President

The role will reside within Firm Risk Managements Credit Risk Management Department. Credit Risk Management (CRM) evaluates credit risk transactions and approves rejects or modifies them considering the availability and appropriateness of arrangements for reducing risk or risk mitigation.

Within Credit Risk Management the Morgan Stanley Collateral Valuation Team is looking to hire an experienced Appraisal Manager and Reviewer. Their role will include liaising with valuers across EMEA and the instruction of valuation/appraisal reports which are required and relied upon for the underwriting of commercial real estate transactions across Europe and involving all property types.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit market liquidity operational model and other risks.

What will you be doing
Management of projects/valuations to ensure consistency with RICS Standards (Red Book) International Valuation Standards (IVS) and European Central Bank (ECB) guidance in addition to internal policies and generally accepted appraisal standards
Determine if appraisals adequately address a wide variety of issues that affect property value and meet Morgan Stanleys appraisal standards
Act as an intermediary between appraisal firms external appraisal management/review and our business unit underwriters to ensure adherence to regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures
Ensure key appraisal assumptions are supported and thoroughly analysed
Prepare reports/documentation to support the management and review process and meet regulatory requirements
Support with the management of quarterly and annual collateral-monitoring programs including undertaking internal estimations of value

What were looking for:
RICS qualified real estate professional
7 years of real estate valuation experience
Understanding of commercial valuation process valuation techniques and regulations
Familiarity with regulations affecting the valuation industry including Red Book and IVS
Working knowledge of Argus Enterprise and familiarity with cash flow models
The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders both written and verbally

Skills that will help you in the role:
An interest in working in a fast-paced environment often balancing multiple high priority deliverables
The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative team-oriented environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft office including Excel PowerPoint and Word)
