Job Title: Hire Controller
Location: Brentwood Essex
Working Hours: Monday Friday 08:00 17:30
Salary: Up to 28000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Full-time Permanent

About the Company

We are a specialist powered access equipment rental company based in Brentwood providing MEWPs (mobile elevated work platforms) scissor lifts booms and other access solutions to clients across construction maintenance and industrial sectors. Known for our reliability safety and customer-first approach we are seeking a proactive Hire Controller to join our growing team.

Role Overview

As a Hire Controller youll be the first point of contact for customers looking to hire powered access equipment. Youll manage the full hire process - from taking enquiries and quoting to coordinating deliveries and off-hires - ensuring a smooth professional service from start to finish.

This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills great communication and ideally some experience in access hire or construction-related industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle hire enquiries via phone email and website
  • Prepare accurate hire quotations and process orders
  • Coordinate the delivery collection and servicing of powered access equipment
  • Liaise with internal teams (transport workshop sales) to ensure equipment availability
  • Maintain strong relationships with new and repeat customers
  • Manage hire extensions breakdowns and replacement machines efficiently
  • Upsell and promote additional services or equipment when appropriate
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with company procedures

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a hire controller or rental desk role preferred
  • Background in powered access plant hire or construction is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organisation and multitasking abilities
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and hire management systems (e.g. Syrinx or similar)
  • Team player with a positive can-do attitude
