Chief Marketing Officer, Specialty Retail Brands

The base salary for this position is $216000 - $228000 per year. The base salary offered may vary depending on location job-related knowledge skills and experience. This role is eligible for annual equity grants subject to Board approval and company performance. Typical grant ranges vary by level and may significantly impact total compensation.

Wayfairs Specialty Brands - AllModern Birch Lane and Joss & Main - are seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to drive the next chapter of growth. This executive will lead the brand and marketing strategy across our three distinct lifestyle brands each with unique customer segments and positioning. With an ambitious roadmap that includes expanding brand awareness growing our customer base and scaling into physical retail the CMO will play a critical role in shaping the future of these businesses.

The CMO will oversee a team of 25 marketers and steward a significant media investment across brand performance CRM promotions on-site experience and retail marketing. Were looking for a strategic and hands-on leader with deep expertise in both brand building and performance marketing - someone who thrives in fast-paced entrepreneurial environments and brings proven success in the consumer goods and/or retail sectors.

This Boston-based role reports directly to the Wayfair Global CMO and partners closely with the General Manager of Specialty Brands as part of their leadership team.

What youll do

• Own and oversee the management of a $100M advertising budget across all key platforms and channels including but not limited to Google Meta Pinterest TikTok Audio and CTV partners and relevant agencies (e.g. Org Social).
• Develop and execute an integrated multi-channel marketing strategy aligned with overall business goals and market-specific nuances.
• Manage and optimize marketing initiatives across all key channels including SEM PLA paid social email marketing SMS/Push notifications display advertising influencer/affiliate marketing partnerships online video CTV/TV and more.
• Leverage market insights across both our B2C and B2B customer segments to identify and prioritize opportunities for growth customer acquisition retention and brand positioning.
• Be the steward of each brand working and driving key priorities with the dedicated Specialty Retail Creative team and the broader brand organization to ensure an elevated positioning and consistent brand presentation in line with the brand strategy.
• Analyze business performance and use data-driven decision-making processes to refine marketing strategies and optimize performance.
• Stay current with evolving technology and identify ways to leverage it to drive efficiency gains and cost savings.
• Build mentor and lead a high-performing marketing team fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
• Partner with senior leaders and x-functional teams to drive your agenda including Pricing Finance Technology Data Science Design Services Category Management Physical Retail Merchandising Customer Service.
• Engage with external agencies vendors and other stakeholders to leverage external expertise and amplify marketing efforts.
• Develop and manage the marketing budget ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximum return on investment (ROI).
• Partner with Finance to develop the brand forecast; monitor marketing spend and adjust as needed to ensure financial targets are met.

What Youll Need

• 10 years of marketing experience with a strong background in brand and performance marketing including physical retail experience.
• Demonstrated success in a senior marketing leadership role preferably within the retail or consumer goods sector. Home design or fashion industry experience is a plus.
• Proven track record of driving growth innovation and brand excellence on a national scale.
• Proficiency in data analytics customer insights and performance measurement tools.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing channels platforms and technologies.
• Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic and results-oriented environment.
