This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams functions and locations.

We are a team of collaborators doers and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safe routine spaceflight. This position will directly impact the future of U.S. space policy and will require your commitment and detailed attention toward public policy. As part of a hardworking team of policy experts you will support Blue Origins strategic legislative priorities. This role reports to the Vice President of Government Relations and will broadly support Blue Origins priorities in civil national security and regulatory space policy work while keeping an eye toward integrating international issue and perspectives. The Government Relations team interfaces with national and local legislative bodies and executive agencies as well as company leadership business units communications legal and sales teams. Responsibilities include monitoring legislation crafting messaging and materials and representing Blue Origin and its policy interests with external and internal stakeholders. This person will support - USG engagements managing external consultants engaging our nationwide supplier base and supporting strategy for the Blue Political Action Committee. Strong relationships with relevant congressional stakeholders and experience leading and implementing legislative strategy are required for this position.

We are looking for someone to apply their expertise leadership skills and commitment to quality to usher in a new era of safe and affordable launch and in-space capabilities for USG customers. Passion for our mission and vision is required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 4 years of experience in the government relations and/or federal legislative/policy arena
  • Excellent communications skills both oral and written
  • Able to support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working with Members of Congress agency leadership VIPs and representing Blue Origin with stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills for tracking government programs and budgets and congressional issues while meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of congressional budget appropriations and authorization processes
  • Proficient in the Congressional budget and authorization processes
  • Ability to earn trust maintain positive and professional relationships and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Knowledge and passion for the commercial space industry
  • Knowledge of USG space programs budgets and history
  • Experience working international policy
  • Experience developing and implementing successful legislative strategies
  • Relationships with international partners and embassies
  • Experience managing Political Action Committees and understanding of campaign finance laws and regulations

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding) Road Test Hours of Service Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only) vehicle inspection requirements CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
