NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK Minuteman High School is looking to hire a Registered Nurse for the 2025-2026 academic year. Minuteman staff are responsible for delivering high-quality care designed to foster the success of their students. This is a 7.5 hour day 7:30 AM- 3:00 PM with a paid half hour lunch break. Minuteman curriculum is deeply integrated among its career majors and academic disciplines. Individuals applying for this position will commit to work collaboratively with instructors within and across all disciplines. The school nurse is responsible for implementing a school health program under the guidance of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Department of Public Health (DPH).RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists in implementing a comprehensive school health program consistent with the Massachusetts guidelines regulations and statutes governing nursing and school for both nursing and clerical state-mandated programs such as immunization surveillance and screening programs (vision hearing postural etc.)Promotes positive safety practices both within and outside of school current information in a comprehensive school health records for each student based on nursing assessment and medical information using web-based out communicable disease prevention and infection control based on current guidelines for universal precautions prevention of blood borne pathogens exposure and hazardous medical waste medically prescribed interventions including medication administration (based on state regulations) and provides care to ill children and staff on a daily first aid to injured children and staff and triage to appropriate health care formal health education and instruction to children within classrooms under direction of a member of the Special Education Evaluation team Student Support Team and 504 Team and as such attends team consultation meetings completes health and developmental histories makes home visits as needed attends IEP meetings and collaborates with other team a member of the building Safety / Crisis Intervention input on health and wellness policies and the nursing process collaborates with the parent/guardian and student when appropriate to develop and implement an individualized health care plan for the a daily record of all nurses office visits and activities using web-based the administration of all medications in accordance with school medication policy and state training to staff members including but not necessarily limited to Epi-Pen training universal health precautions basic first aid to various regulations related to confidentiality of with classroom teacher to prepare for fieldtrips and overnight trips so that all medication and medical needs are addressed and comply with state and federal substitute nursing coverage for absences fieldtrips or other occasions where nursing services are with school administrators and personnel in assessing and improving the social and emotional climate of student and faculty; involves them in maintaining a healthful school FOR THE POSITION Must have a current Massachusetts license to practice. RN -registered nurse (preferred) or LPN Licensed Practical certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and First Aid from a recognized provider i.e. American Heart health experience and/or pediatric experience preferredMust maintain confidentiality about all aspects of students and staff performance and written and oral records.
