Student Worker- Office Assistants, Housing Office & Ponderosa Village

The Office of Residential Life Housing and Food Services is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic student workers to fill two important roles as Student Office Assistants. These positions support both the Main Housing Office and Ponderosa Village our on-campus Graduate Housing community. These roles offer valuable hands-on experience in customer service administrative support and community engagement within a campus housing environment.

Student Office Assistants play a vital role in creating a welcoming and organized living experience for residents including graduate students faculty and other occupants. You will serve as the friendly face and voice of housing services assisting with inquiries managing administrative duties and helping maintain smooth day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist current and prospective residents with questions via phone email and in person

• Address walk-in inquiries and general housing concerns promptly and professionally

• Greet residents guests and visitors with a welcoming attitude

• Administrative Support

• Assist with lease creation application processing and cancellations

• Manage housing files and data entry using StarRez housing software

• Help log and distribute packages and maintain organized records

• Support housing operations and special projects as needed

• Complete administrative tasks using Web Campus or other internal systems

• Community Engagement & Light Maintenance Support

• Foster a sense of community by participating in programming and maintaining a friendly environment

• Assist with decorating and upkeep of the front desk area

• Coordinate communication for minor maintenance requests and provide basic support as directed

• Enforce housing policies and document concerns appropriately

• Additional Duties

• Attend scheduled staff meetings training sessions and one-on-one check-ins

• Work scheduled shifts including Saturdays when required

Required Qualifications

• Be enrolled as a student at the University of Nevada Ren

• Maintain a GPA of 2.3 or above per semester

• Ponderosa Village Office Assistants may be required to work Saturdays 12-4p

Preferred Qualifications

• Candidate has excellent communication and customer service skills

• Candidate has a strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information responsibly

• Candidate has proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry

• Candidate has the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

• Candidate has prior experience with managing online files a plus but not required

15 hours per week

Compensation

Student Employee Level 1

A background check will be conducted on the candidate(s) selected for hire.

HR will attempt to verify academic credentials upon receipt of hiring documents. If the academic credentials cannot be verified HR will notify the faculty member that an official transcript of their highest degree must be submitted within thirty days of the faculty members first day of employment.

As part of the hiring process applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
