Job Description

Job Overview:

In this head of nursing role at our hospice office you will be responsible for the overall administration of the clinical departments and monitoring of appropriate staffing and productivity. You will coordinate care with the interdisciplinary group patient family and referring agencies. Additionally you will monitor and analyze QAPI issues and direct clinical staff with regard to agency policies and procedures.


Background You Need to Be Successful in the Director of Clinical Services Role:

  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing Licensure:
  • Current license as a registered nurse (RN) in the appropriate state and/or in accordance with the Board of Nurse Examiners rules for Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Must have a current Drivers License and liability insurance in the state you would be working in.
  • You must have at least one year (two years for ACHC Accreditation) of hospice program experience as a registered nurse obtained within the last 36 months with management experience heavily preferred.
  • Nursing skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrate proven decision making skills. If required to make visits needs proof of current CPR. Must read write and comprehend English.


What Does The Director of Clinical Services Do Every Day

  • Direct and coordinate clinical departments and sites; assumes responsibility for continuity quality and safety of services delivered in compliance with state and federal regulations. (Conditions of Participation).
  • Promote the philosophy and administrative policies of the Agency in an effort to ensure quality of patient care.
  • Participate in activities relevant to professional services including development of qualifications and assignment of agency personnel.
  • Supervise and provide direction to subordinates in an effort to ensure quality compliance with the Plan of Care assessment and reassessment of patients needs and continuity of services by appropriate health care personnel.
  • Monitor the QAPI Program and assure appropriate corrective measures are performed.
  • Promote compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third party payors through education..
  • Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) assists in development of the IDG plan and participates in QAPI activities.
  • Monitors systems and identifies problem areas to the Administrator both verbally and through written reports.
