In this role you will be responsible for the timely procurement of materials and services to support operations. This will include raw materials and finished goods for the PPE Turnouts and Essentials product lines. The role requires the smooth and timely movement of goods or services through the company often working with vendors internal teams and logistics to manage orders track progress and resolve any issues that arise with material shortages. It is crucial to understand the Supply Chain in full from our primary suppliers to our secondary and tertiary suppliers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Review needs and issue purchase orders for assigned items and services including Dayton administration
- Manage PO correspondence and confirmations with suppliers
- Maintain PO information regarding dates quantities and pricing
- Manage open order reports with suppliers
- Arrange express shipments and track spending
- Update supplier changes in the item master
- Update sourcing rules with new raw material numbers
- Monitor shortage reports and coordinate expedites of appropriate materials
- Troubleshoot and problem solve delays issues or challenges that arise with delayed shipments of materials
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are delivered to the plants or DC on time from the suppliers
- Take a proactive approach to timing and quantities of material requirements for production or DC replenishment to ensure low stock out levels
- Monitor and drive supplier on time delivery to the plants and DC to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods
- Maintain assigned data in Oracle based on information records and source lists
- Update pricing annually and as necessary
- Generate reports and offer administrative assistance as requested
- Assist other buyers periodically with PO creation and maintenance
- Assist Compliance department as needed with:
- Updates to controlled documents in ISO systems
- Document review follow-up for controlled documents
- Tasks related to NFPA certification and samples
- Filing of certification documents as requested
- Develop new processes and review current processes that strive to gain efficiencies through systems and/or manual work
- Track orders shipments and deliveries to ensure they are on schedule and meet quality standards
- Address delays shortages or other issues that may arise during the movement of goods or services
- Communicate with suppliers and internal teams when material shortages arise and provide potential solutions to stock outs
- Assist with inventory tracking ensuring adequate supplies and coordinating with related departments
- Implement and reinforce operational policies and procedures to ensure that execution meets best practice standards while adhering to LIONs financial requirements
- Ensure maintenance of written documentation of processes is completed and maintained
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Prefer a college degree in business
- Prefer at least three years of experience performing purchasing or planning functions in a manufacturing environment
- Prefer experience working in an ERP environment (ORACLE SAP JD Edwards)
- Working knowledge of Excel
- Comfortable with technology and has a strong working knowledge of MS office suite materials planning MRP/ERP system(s)
- Strong drive for results with self-directed leadership
- APICS or CPM training or certification a plus
- Previous garment related experience a plus
- Natural tendency to be curious positive creative and tenacious
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Highly flexible and able to react constructively and with a positive attitude to multiple demands shifting priorities change and unexpected events.
- May be required at times to perform light lifting and carrying (30 lbs) and up to 8 hours a day standing/walking/driving.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment.
