Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is hiring an Assistant Project Manager (Civil Engineering Specialist Assistant I) to support the delivery of essential water wastewater and drainage projects across the city.

This entry-level position is perfect for someone whos organized detail-oriented and ready to jump into the fast-paced world of infrastructure project delivery. Youll work alongside experienced project managers to help move critical capital improvement projects forwardsupporting everything from field documentation and permitting to vendor coordination and compliance tracking.

Whether its helping replace aging watermains assisting with drainage upgrades or keeping urgent repairs on schedule your work will directly support the health and quality of life for Seattle residents. This is your chance to grow your career while contributing to projects that matter.

Job Responsibilities

In this role you can expect to:

Qualifications

Education:Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or two years of college level coursework in engineering and construction technology (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class)

Experience/Education Equivalency: In lieu of an associates degree in an accredited program two (2) additional years of civil engineering work experience under the supervision of a licensed engineer may be substituted.

License Certification and Other Requirements:

  • Current Washington State drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment
  • Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather traffic hazardous/toxic substances and work in or near construction sites
  • May be required to stand walk or bend for extended periods of time

Additional Information

This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Effective January 2025 City employees have the option to work remotely two days per week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.

The full salary range for this position is: $39.12 - $45.54 Hourly
