With recent contract wins and continued exponential growth NEPEAN Longwall is expanding! We are currently seeking experiencedGearbox Fitters (Specialists) to join our team.

Multiple Opportunities Available: We have permanent fixed-term and casual positions on offer. Enjoy a 4-day compressed work week for permanent and fixed-term roles along with competitive base and casual hourly rates!

• Disassemble inspect diagnose faults and repair or rebuild gearboxes (e.g. AFC drives shearer gearboxes).
• Replace worn gears shafts seals and bearings.
• Precision fitting using micrometers dial indicators and torque tools.
• Align gearbox components to manufacturer tolerances.
• Reassemble and perform final testing prior to installation.

• Inspect service and repair hydraulic components (e.g. pumps valves cylinders accumulators).
• Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and troubleshoot faults in complex systems.
• Replace hoses seals and components as required.
• Pressure test and calibrate systems to OEM specifications.

• Assemble new or overhauled gearboxes and hydraulic units in workshop or underground environments.
• Complete strip-downs and rebuilds during longwall moves or overhauls.
• Ensure components meet compliance and quality standards before handover.

• Participate in functional testing and commissioning of repaired components.
• Use diagnostic tools to verify correct operation under load.
• Record test results and maintain service records.

• Adhere to strict underground coal mining safety protocols (e.g. mine site rules isolation procedures).
• Conduct risk assessments (e.g. JHAs SWMS).
• Lock-out/tag-out procedures during maintenance.
• Maintain clean safe and organized work environments.

• Complete detailed service reports and maintenance records.
• Report faults part requirements and recommendations to supervisors.
• Use CMMS (computerized maintenance systems) if required.
