Job Description
The Philosophy Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University seeks a part-time instructor of Philosophy to teach an online section of PHI 293 Ethics & the Media Professions a 3 credit course during fall 2025 semester. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. All positions and offers are subject to funding availability and enrollment. Course Description: Great traditions in ethical theory; application to television film new media. Role of ethics in program and content development; and in business practices. Ethical issues arising from social networking globalization and new trends in the media. This position is anticipated to be filled on a fully remote basis. Not all geographical areas within the United States are eligible. Responsibilities
The duties associated with the teaching assignment include: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Preparation of lectures. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing department forms for student evaluations. Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
Qualifications
ABD or PhD in Philosophy.
