Job Description

Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Location: On-site Lackawanna NY
Duration: Full-time

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our sugar processing operation. This role supports our quality and operations teams by performing laboratory analyses monitoring production processes and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with Quality and Food Safety standards within our GFSI-certified facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine testing of raw materials in-process products and final products to ensure they meet specifications before shipment.

  • Conduct product release procedures and issue Certificates of Analysis.

  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.

  • Perform facility-wide monitoring to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) safety food safety and quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate and legible documentation in all required formats.

  • Communicate findings and updates clearly and professionally-verbally in writing and electronically.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in a science-related field or equivalent experience in Food Quality Assurance/Food Safety preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year plant-level QA experience preferred.

  • Formal training in HACCP BRC/SQF FSMA/FSVP/PCQI preferred.

  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 117 and related regulatory requirements.

  • Understanding of quality testing methods for the food/beverage industry including analytical microbiological and sensory evaluations.

  • Ability to troubleshoot analyze data and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational multitasking and attention-to-detail skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.

  • Experience in the sugar or sweetener industry a plus.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders lift up to 50 lbs and operate testing equipment.

  • Must be able to bend stoop kneel crouch and work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.

  • Exposure to sugar dust steam heat cold slippery floors high humidity and mechanical hazards.

  • Noise levels range from medium to loud.

Schedule
  • 12-hour night shifts required.
