Position Title: SupervisorySpecial Education Bus Aide/ECCAT Supervisory Special Education Pre K Aide
Department: School Buildings/Bus
Reports To: Building Administrator/Director of Transportation
Dates: August 13 2025 or as soon as hired
Salary: Pay Grade F (Minimum $29710 - Maximum $43690based upon years of serviceplus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
SUMMARY:
A vacancy exists for a Supervisory Special Education Bus Aide/ECCAT Supervisory Special Education Pre K Aide to serve the Transportation Department for Special Education Bus #134 and Pikeside Learning Center. The aide will meet the driver at 6:30 am at Valley View Elementary. Upon completion of the morning run the bus driver will drop the aide off at Pikeside Learning Center to aide in the Pre K classrooms as needed. The driver will then pick up the aide at Pikeside Learning Center at approximately 1:45 pm to complete the afternoon bus run. Upon completion of the afternoon bus run the driver will drop the aide off atValley View Elementary at approximately 4:30 pm. These runs are subject to frequent changes during the school year with additional changes and/or assignments to be made as needed. More specific detail are available upon request. Please contact the transportation department.
These buses will serve as a transfer bus as needed.
Employees regular and substitutes who have never held the classification of aide will be required to pass the state developed aide competency test and if not held will need to complete the ECCAT certification with the WVDE.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). State mandated competency exam.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read write and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff parents students and administrators.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detail but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to work with emotionally physically and/or mentally impaired students. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Understanding of confidentiality and commitment to abide by confidentiality regulations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds such as adaptive equipment and supplies. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects tools or controls; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to bend at the trunk more than the average person. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.

Salary will be determined by using the Berkeley County Schools Service Personnel Salary Scale based on level of education and years of experience.

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code 18A-2-12 WV State Board Policy 5314 and BCBOEs Evaluation Policy for Service Personnel
JOB SUMMARY:
The ECCAT/Aide assists the teacher(s) in a variety of ways to implement the instructional program including working directly with children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis; to establish effective rapport with students assigned to a PRE-K K First -Third Grade classroom; to motivate students to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation in accordance with each pupils ability.

Caring for children can be stressful. ECCAT/Aide must ensure that children are supervised at all times and that children are involved in safe and appropriate activities. There may be a number of situations happening at once and must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time.
