Job Description

Job Title: Register Nurse ER/ED

Location: Rosebud SD

Shift Schedule:

Day Shift: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM

Night Shift: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM

Qualification:

Education: highest degree attained in Nursing
Certifications: Any state RN license is acceptable
Certifications: BLS ACLS PALS and ATCN / TNCC - Good to have
Experience: Registered Nurse must have at least two (2) years or more experience in Emergency Department

Job Responsibilities

Triage and Initial Assessment

  • Quickly assess patients upon arrival to determine the severity of their condition.
  • Prioritize care based on acuity using standardized triage systems (e.g. ESI Emergency Severity Index).

Rapid Patient Care

  • Deliver prompt accurate care in high-stress time-sensitive situations.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of vital signs and physical conditions.
  • Administer medications IV fluids and emergency interventions (e.g. CPR defibrillation).

Collaboration with Healthcare Team

  • Work closely with ED physicians specialists and support staff.
  • Communicate patient status changes and treatment responses effectively.
  • Assist with procedures like intubations central line insertions or wound care.

Documentation and Charting

  • Document all assessments interventions and patient responses in the EHR.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records often under pressure.

Patient Education and Discharge Planning

  • Explain procedures medications and follow-up care to patients and families.
  • Coordinate with case managers or social workers for discharge or transfer.

Crisis and Trauma Management

  • Respond to codes (e.g. Code Blue trauma alerts).
  • Care for critically ill or injured patients (e.g. cardiac arrest strokes gunshot wounds).

Infection Control and Safety

  • Follow strict infection control protocols.
  • Ensure safety measures for patients staff and themselves.

Mental Health Support

  • Assess and manage patients experiencing mental health crises.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and involve psychiatric resources when necessary.
