Job Description
COLSA is actively seeking a Mid-level Test Engineer to support the HIMARS program in Huntsville AL. The qualified candidate will perform test engineering activities related to the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) and should be able to think holistically about a system and its requirements with excellent critical thinking skills applying them to all aspects of HIMARS operational selected candidate will develop test requirements author technical documentation and perform other related test engineering will conduct complex tasks in the testing and analysis of new and existing systems software or hardware to determine effectiveness and operational readiness ensuring applicable specifications are being met.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)
- Writes complex test procedures and protocols
- Troubleshoots vehicle hardware and software issues with the HIMARS weapon system
- Develops complex test simulations gathering test data and analyzing the results
- Designs develops and implements testing methods test plans and equipment
- Designs and builds test stations
- Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data and system integrity
- Performs usability testing for total system performance reliability scalability and security
- Coordinates the labor schedules and equipment required for testing
- Collaborates with other engineering groups and provides technical support to engineers and scientists on a variety of technical tasks
- Develops and recommends procedures and methods and prepares technical reports and documentation
- Performs testing and analysis on the overall architecture of hardware software and networking systems
- Maintains records of test progress and test results
- May provide work leadership for lower level employees.
Note: This position is on a government site and involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
