Job Description
Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with ten or more years of experience for our DC Metro office. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office. This candidate will be working directly with clients providing consulting services.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the design of steel concrete and masonry commercial/institutional federal and Industrial buildings both in new and existing construction utility infrastructure roadways erosion control measures and coordinating multifaceted projects. We are seeking innovative results-oriented individuals who value high standards of performance and collaborative teamwork.
Qualifications :
Essential Engineering Skills and Functions:
- Perform the following functions:
- Structural analysis design and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects
- Design of steel concrete and masonry commercial/institutional federal and Industrial buildings both in new and existing construction
- Design experience with light gage steel and timber is a plus
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings
- Lead design team efforts
- Manage project team for budget and schedule control
- Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
- Collaborate with the architect owner and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess strong critical thinking organizational and analytical abilities.
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
- Positive contributor to overall office and department goals culture and morale.
- Ability to travel.
- Work closely with other Coffman offices such as Raleigh and Atlanta structural groups to complete projects and tasks.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
- B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).
- 10 or more years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience with computer software programs and analysis systems (such as RISA AutoCAD Revit RamSS Etabs Enercalc etc.).
- Excellent verbal written organizational and time management skills.
- Project Management experience and/or certifications.
- Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams.
- Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus.
- Active local industry involvement is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
- Approximate Base Salary 100K-150k
- Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.
- Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate.
- Competitive end-of-year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance.
- Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change).
- 401k with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution.
