Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager leads financial operations within a dynamic insurance organization and is responsible for a broad spectrum of financial operations including receivables and disbursements to ensure accurate reporting timely collections and efficient payment processing. This role has a strong background in financial operations financial reporting support and team leadership with a forward-thinking mindset that embraces the use of AI and automation to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Oversee the full accounts receivable lifecycle including premium billing collections cash application and reconciliation.
- Manage disbursement processes including commission payments insured refunds and claims payouts.
- Supervise a team of AR/AP specialists and analysts providing coaching performance feedback and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with underwriting claims and operations teams to provide proactive and responsive customer service that meets all servicing standards.
- Monitor aging reports and implement strategies to reduce average days outstanding and improve cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls GAAP and insurance regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present financial operations metrics forecasts and variance analyses to various stakeholders.
- Support the financial reporting team with required information and analysis for monthly reporting as well as budgeting and forecasting.
- Lead process improvement initiatives including the adoption of AI tools and automation technologies to streamline workflows enhance accuracy and reduce manual effort.
- Coordinate with external auditors and support audit requests related to receivables and disbursements.
- Assist Finance leadership with developing a department strategy to meet BerkleyNets goals.
Qualifications
- 10 years of finance/accounting experience
- 3 years of experience leading and engaging teams in fast-paced results driven organizations
- Preferred Qualifications: CPA license or AIAF designation
- Experience with the following technologies preferred: Essbase OBIEE VENA Solutions PeopleSoft and PowerBI
- Must demonstrate attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously to drive results
- Familiarity with AI-driven financial tools and automation platforms is preferred.
- Communicates effectively with teammates and others leading meetings and interacting with increasingly higher levels of management to gather information and effectively present results and recommendations
- Consistently demonstrate positive innovation behaviors that support new ideas to keep the department and company moving forward
- Proactively demonstrate assessment of risks within internal controls processes and financials
Education
- Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting is required
