Background/Mission
Sela PCS was created to help tackle educational inequity racial segregation and cultural isolation - to create a place where students would be celebrated as they begin their global citizenship journey. Sela is a dual language Hebrew and English school that proudly serves and educates 300 PreK-3 - 5th grade students in Washington DC.

The Opportunity
The Operations Associate is a key part of the Operations team at Sela PCS. The mission of the Operations Team is to ensure teachers students and families have what they need to be successful. The work is both challenging and rewarding and the Operations Associate is someone who can juggle multiple workstreams with the ultimate goal of helping our community at every turn.
Job Responsibilities
The Operations Associate has several key priorities:
- Facilitate safe and welcoming front desk environment
- Ensure all students families and guests feel welcomed in the building by greeting them
- Answer telephones and transfer callers to the right person or answer questions based on operations knowledge
- Coordinate building entry sign-ins by families and guests and inform other staff if someone is here to see them
- Coordinate supply procurement and delivery
- Procure office supplies and student supplies
- Organize supply closets
- Ensure teachers have what they need by visiting classrooms and speaking with teachers
- Facilitate supply request process
- Support enrollment and recruitment
- Support outreach to new families as directed by the Director of Operations
- Support recruitment efforts with external partners based on Sela Recruitment Plan
- Verify residency forms from all families through the intake process
- Facilitate movement of 100% of student records online in SY 2025-26 with the accompanying phase-out of paper files the bulk of which will be done in Summer 2025 and move to adding records electronically in SY 2025-26
- Coordinate Attendance
- Confirm appropriate attendance entry by teachers either by emailing calling or checking in-person by 8:45 am
- By 9:30 am execute daily attendance phone calls to 100% of absent families and reach out via ParentSquare to all absent families who have not yet communicated with the school by that time
- Coordinate proper execution of and participate in all student attendance handbook policies including but not limited to truancy letters attendance meetings and home visits
- Escort tardy students in PreK and K directly to their classes as they arrive after 9:30 am
- Escort students for early dismissal in PreK and K directly from their classroom to the main office
- Coordinate monthly attendance incentives as decided by leadership team
- Support other Operations tasks
- Assist with emergency drills throughout the year
- Assist with daily coverage of absent staff by letting outside substitutes know their assignments and facilitating their arrival into classrooms
- Coordinate sale and delivery of Sela uniforms/clothing
- Facilitate in-person payment for fees for families
- Attend to student health needs if Nurse is absent or on a break
- Assist with student and staff technology when the Director of Operations or IT is unavailable
- Assist with other applicable tasks as directed by the Director of Operations
Qualifications- Experience working in elementary school environment (preferred)
- Ability to accept feedback and make changes and commitment to constant improvement
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Professionalism in speaking with and in reference to Selas students and families
- Commitment to being a team player
- Excellent organizational skills
- Maturity humility strong work ethic and sense of humor
- Understanding of and commitment to Selas mission and core values
- Ability to use Google Docs and Microsoft Office
Job Information
- This is a 40-hour 12-month non-exempt full-time position. The hours are from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm with one 30-minute break.
- This position reports to the Senior Director Operations Finance and Development.
- This position has a salary range of $45000 - $65000 based on years of experience in education.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
