Job Description

Medical Office Receptionist

Fulltime/ Permanent (4 days/week)

Location: Fairfield CT OR Newtown CT

Note: Need a medical office receptionist primarily for our Newtown & Fairfield offices but is willing to travel to Shelton & Milford for coverage as needed.

Job Summary

  • The Medical Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for making the first impression of every patient. The primary responsibility will be to ensure outstanding patient experience and provide an excellent level of service.
  • This is a Part Time position. If hired the candidate will float between all 4 locations.

Essential Functions

  • Provide ideas and execute initiatives as appropriate to improve established customer experience and revenue stream and increase new patient lead generation and conversion.
  • Answer phones; return patient calls answer patient emails.
  • Schedule new and established patients for their appointments.
  • Ensure patients information is accurately recorded in EMR.
  • Inform patients of the costs of care being provided and guide them to appropriate resources for further information.
  • Check in/check out patients and collect balances.
  • Manage and obtain physician referrals.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of the reception area.
  • Scan documents and enter demographics insurance and referrals into EMR.
  • Keep track of office supply inventory.
  • Correspond with staff on patient issues and concerns.
  • Audit review and verify scheduling to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform research and provide information to patients.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • One year of work experience working in a medical dental or similar service-oriented industry is required.
  • Knowledge of health insurance in regard to referrals authorizations and claims preferred.
  • Knowledge of computers medical terminology and insurance in order to effectively handle patient encounters is preferred.
  • EMR (Electronic Medical Record) knowledge is required.
  • Knowledge of Athena is preferred.
  • Ability to work and adapt in a fast paced patient service-oriented environment required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including excellent written and verbal skills required.
  • Good organizational skills in the performance of duties and responsibilities required.
  • Ability to effectively work with physicians patients and other personnel in a cooperative collaborative manner to maintain high patient satisfaction required.
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct in all work-related situations required.
