3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
The Social Worker Area Services is responsible for delivering high-quality social work services to vulnerable children and their families.
Working under the supervision of a Team Manager the postholder will assess needs manage complex cases and work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
The role requires a sound understanding of social work practices legislation and the ability to work in a fast-paced emotionally demanding environment.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Assess the needs of children and families and develop implement and review care plans.
Manage a caseload involving complex and sensitive cases using professional judgement to assess risk and intervene effectively.
Work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary partners to support the best outcomes for children.
Maintain accurate and timely records using appropriate systems and formats.
Provide guidance and support to students and colleagues where appropriate.
Adhere to statutory and organisational policies procedures and codes of conduct.
Communicate effectively with children families and professionals through written verbal and other communication methods.
Attend and contribute to meetings case conferences reviews and court proceedings when required.
Skills/Experience:
Experience of working with vulnerable children and families preferably within statutory settings.
Strong understanding of key social work legislation and current professional practice.
Ability to assess risk analyse complex information and develop appropriate intervention plans.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to produce clear reports and assessments.
Proven ability to work under pressure and remain resilient in challenging environments.
Competence in working with diverse communities and promoting equality and inclusion.
Ability to manage and prioritise a demanding caseload.
Strong record-keeping and documentation skills using relevant IT systems.
Additional Information:
Part-time role:18.50 hours per week.

Qualified social worker with registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Experience of working with vulnerable children and families, preferably within statutory settings. Strong understanding of key social work legislation and current professional practice. Ability to assess risk, analyse complex information, and develop appropriate intervention plans. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear reports and assessments.
