Who are we looking for
Were looking for an Environmental Technician to join our Fredericton or Bedford team in Atlantic Canada. Your role will be to assist engineers in designing planning and performing engineering duties related to the prevention control and remediation of environmental hazards utilizing various engineering disciplines.
This position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Fieldwork: Perform field work to supervise site interventions related to environmental characterizations of soil and groundwater and land rehabilitation (by excavation in situ treatment and biopile;Complete topographic surveying and survey layouts;
- Environmental Assessments: Perform Phase I to III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs);
- Health Safety and Environment: Implement and enforce health and safety plans on project sites; Perform Emergency Response (ER) services for environmental spills/releases;
- Data Collection Analysis and Technical Writing : Providing accurate field notes; Write site reports and other technical documents.
- Engineering Solutions Design: Implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions under supervision to provide feedback and contribute to validation of the design.
- Sampling and Testing: Conduct field activities that include sampling of groundwater soil soil vapour sediment and/or surface water;Perform exploration trenching drilling in situ geotechnical testing installation of observation wells soil and groundwater sampling;
- Project Coordination: Perform oversight of excavation and drilling activities; Supervise subcontractors on the sites; Project task coordination and ability to oversee projects implement field work and report to Project Team;
- Technical Troubleshooting: Perform basic tasks in technical troubleshooting such as identifying evident technical issues with equipment and experiments and assisting in basic diagnostic actions.
Training and skills
- Post-secondary or college diploma in environment geology or civil engineering;
- Relevant experience of minimum 2 - 5 years in environmental site characterization and rehabilitation;
- Bilingual capabilities considered an asset;
- Possess a valid drivers license and have access to a vehicle;
- Autonomous methodical responsible resourceful and punctual person;
- Available for a variable schedule;
- Available to work on sites outside the region on occasion.
